As we continuously seek out progressive people in the realm of urban ecology across Europe, we serendipitously crossed paths with Gabino. Shortly thereafter, we received an invitation by Claudia Schnugg a collaborator of Quo Artis, a Barcelona-based foundation that converges the realms of art and science. This invitation extended to a Zoom meeting, where Gabino was also a participant.
He is a seasoned Landscape Architect and Project Manager deeply committed to enhancing urban biodiversity through nature-based solutions. With over 16 years of experience as an internal consultant for Barcelona’s Local Government, he has successfully implemented naturalisation policies and techniques in the city’s public spaces. His expertise encompasses landscape and garden design for public, corporate, and private projects, both nationally and globally.
He is a respected thought leader in his field, frequently invited to speak at various forums and the author of numerous publications, articles, and essays. He holds a prominent role as a board member overseeing Communication and International Relations at the Spanish Association of Public Parks and Gardens. Additionally, he serves on the board of World Urban Parks.
Beyond his professional pursuits, he is known for his creative fusion of art, science, design, and the environment. He collaborates with Quo Artis and the Epicuro Lab collective, creating biodiversity-based artworks and interventions that address social and environmental issues.
