RefuBees and the City

Our association with Arie Koster commenced in 2014 and has encompassed a diverse range of collaborative endeavours. His involvement has been instrumental, providing invaluable guidance on matters spanning from the meticulous quality control of our bee hotels to the strategic positioning of BeeTotems. Notably, Arie Koster generously granted us permission to utilise his photographic work for our website, which originates from his comprehensive and magnificent publication, ‘Plantenvademecum voor wilde bijen, vlinders & biodiversiteit in tuinen’ (Plant Vademecum for Wild Bees, Butterflies, and Biodiversity in Gardens).

Furthermore, the city of Amsterdam has solicited Arie Koster’s expertise on two significant occasions, in 2000 and subsequently in 2015, to conduct comprehensive investigations and research studies pertaining to wild bees in correlation with green space management within the city. As we look ahead, it is our aspiration that this fruitful collaboration may extend to yet another research effort for Amsterdam in 2024.
