Since the 1980s, Hans Kalliwoda’s work has focused on the integration of spectators in artworks, installations and interventions. His conceptual art has been exhibited from Cape Town to San Francisco, in numerous galleries, museums and public spaces.
For the past 25 years, Hans has been actively involved in art/science projects, partnering with numerous engineers and academics. From 2000 to 2005, he pioneered interfaculty collaboration on sustainability matters at the Delft University for Technology. Later, between 2013 and 2017, he participated in the PhDArts program at the University of Leiden.
These experiences have made him truly exceptional in orchestrating and overseeing complex interdisciplinary collaborations, both within academic settings and beyond.
As co-director of the TuDelft Urban Ecology and Ecocities Lab, Kalliwoda is currently establishing a consortium of academics and professionals to collaborate internationally to develop new methods for transforming urban centres into natural reserves for pollinators.
His pioneering spirt and intervention projects gained him the role of avanguard artist, making the impossible possible. With his interactive art and symbiotic adventures, Kalliwoda brings romanticism and utopia into the reality of the here and now.
