The TU Darmstadt is at the forefront of 3D scanning technology.
The Dutch Nature Museum Naturalis in Leiden has generously provided us with the original specimens of the 104 wild bee species found in Amsterdam.
What sets the TU Darmstadt apart is its possession of Europe’s most precise 3D microscanning equipment. To capture each specimen in incredible detail, an astounding 28,000 photographs are taken, forming the foundation for a hyper-realistic 3D digital image.
This digital file serves as the blueprint for creating a 3D print that’s magnified a remarkable 12,000 times, allowing for an unprecedented level of precision and realism.
